More About Lois

Lois' experience in consulting and research enables her to manage projects and effectively support client goals, having works with clients such as the World Health Organization and Ipas, as well as smaller institutions.

Regarding science communication, she produces and hosts the Public Health podcast 'NotiPHied', where she discusses various public health topics with special guests to make public health accessible. Lois is a prolific writer, having written for publications such as Black Ballad, BBC Science Focus and the British Medical Journal.

Lois has received PhD training at the University of Edinburgh and holds a Masters in Public Health and BSc (Hons) in Biomedical Sciences at the same institution. She is also experienced in global health teaching and remains a visiting lecturer with Karolinska Institute in Sweden on the topic of decolonizing global health.

In 2023, Lois encountered a significant turning point in her career – simultaneously pursuing her PhD (having already earned a Masters in Public Health) and embarking on her inaugural consulting role. Unfortunately, she faced the unexpected challenge of stepping away from her ambitious position with a global health consulting organisation due to a diagnosis of a rare chronic illness. This led to a two-year hiatus from her PhD studies, where she gained invaluable insight into the importance of self-care and pacing.

Realising that stepping away from academia was the best decision for her, she is able to expand her consulting expertise and science communication activities. Today, Lois successfully manages to balance her professional and personal life while continuing her engagement in the global health arena.

"With a robust academic background and a comprehensive understanding of research, I realised that I could make a more significant impact by transitioning into consulting and science communication. Over the past few years, I've had the honour of collaborating with various clients, which has enriched my understanding of the distinct challenges faced by NGOs and projects of various scales.

When not analysing strategies or addressing complex issues, I draw inspiration from immersing myself in new cultures and advocating for rare diseases and women's health. In my leisure time, I passionately create public health content through my own podcast (more details are available on the Podcast tab!). I encourage you to explore my portfolio to see how I can contribute to your organisation's success within the ever-evolving global health landscape."
